Why Are You Paying So Much for Highways Testing?

If you need to know what condition a road is in before you resurface it, or you have a potential dispute over textures or straight edge, the last thing you should be doing is paying through the nose for traffic management so that a technician can go out and do some standard testing!

The Highway Data Systems (HDS) survey vehicle is fully equipped to carry out traffic speed surveys at a fraction of the cost of conventional methods.

Surface Macrotexture and Surface Regularity

HDS, working with the University of Hertfordshire, has developed two systems that are used to replicate testing using sand patch and rolling straight edge equipment. However, rather than giving 4 sets of textures per 1000m, the laser texture meter gives results for the entire length of the road surveyed. The laser straight edge can still tell you how many 4, 7 and 10mm deviations you have over 300m, but it can also tell you the whole profile of the road.
