Silverstone Racetrack

Silverstone Race Track – HDS were bought in during and after the resurfacing of Silverstone racetrack in 2019 to measure the improvement in smoothness and ride quality (International Roughness Index), surface texture (MPD) and skid resistance (Grip). This was all done using our specially equipped survey vehicle fitted with lasers and Griptester (MK2) unit.

As part of the QC team hired by Tarmac to support their successful resurfacing of the Silverstone race track HDS were asked to measure the smoothness, surface texture, and skid resistance using a grip tester before and after resurfacing. 

We were able to carry out all measurements in a single shift and report these back to our client immediately so that they were aware of the track characteristics before starting. 

Tarmac used state of the art levelling systems to ensure a great track which we were able to confirm by reporting IRI figures 50% better following resurfacing.
